No more monasticism!
Now our “Divine-ness” is not conditional. One doesn’t need to be a monk or sit away from society, family or friends. Yes you can have friends! Or pets! This is a somewhat new direction for the tradition of seeking Enlightenment & release from Samsara – the wheel of life & death. This Hindu/Buddhist/ Christian mystic allied pathway of meditation practice to attain Nirvana, has been the domain of sannyasins, ashram dwellers, & those seeking to renounce the world. The so called Enlightened Gurus & mystics I have met or know of, have invariably been in a monastic or swami, or similar role, even though they may have become rich & famous. Not family based, but devotee based.
There is then some uncharted territory where we are headed. Where we go t seek our Divinity without any religion or spiritual culture, or guru managed pathway to act as the “middleman”. No intermediator set-up. No need for a designated spiritual group that follows affixed set of teachings, I am free! You won’t need to tithe! There won’t be a need to be part of anything as you are One with Everything. There is also no need to abandon or divorce from anything, as what you have or now experience is part of your Divine Experience.
No need then for a Satan. You can have a Kali Devi – the Goddess of destruction. This is about accepting the Truth of life, of human existence. It is about accepting death & destruction as a norm – just part of human life. (Look around now even!). Not evil, as that is about individual human destructive behaviors, which are still within the Divine play. Of course bad action lead to bad karma & there is then a reckoning, whatever your religious belief. If you are bad you will suffer – bad!
The need then is to be in your Higher Rooms, with your Higher Power. The Divine is seen & felt & Realized when you shortcut current Karma. You jump out of Samsara- the wheel of birth & death, & you find out what Life & the Universe is all about. You transcended it all, so you became the Transcendental Guru. You carry a monasticism in how you regard the world, as you are released from the dream of Maya, & thus find your desires & fantasies to be a millstone. You still have the dream, but you know it’s one &treat it accordingly. Can be annoying, like a bodily itch, but still it’s the results of past action coming to fruit, & that goes on until that also is extinguished in the Great Peace. The body/mind mostly does its own thing, much like nature around us. We have this fallacy of control, or even an appearance of control. Real control rest with the yogis who mastered the kundalini, have full awareness of each breath, & can see what is in your thoughts. Scary!
Such is the Truth of Existence see through eyes of a Transcendental Guru,
Going with a sole focus on being in the Transcendental “zone” makes other self-efforts possibly. Recovery & remission from mental health conditions, addiction, trauma etc. becomes almost incidental. The therapeutic intervention may do an excellent job, but they have considerable limitations. Going into out Higher Rooms & Divine State has none
The idea that we lose out on life enjoyment if we become inclined to be a renunciate with monastic tendencies, is not true, as we end up getting more in the long term. Rules of the Universe! I have seen this with many on the spiritual path. I experienced it myself, when I have had loci of cynical faith & external seeking. I agreed that I was losing out on life for a while, but realized that “these thing take time”. There is really no term, & therefore no long-time, as all this is in the consciousness created by the mind due to ego identification with human existence on a transient world. There is where the sense of non-attainment originates. Then there can be no in-depth recovery or remission of anything. Perhaps then it’s best to have blind faith in whatever Deity or pathway you are connected with! The Divine “out there” & the Divine “in here” will collude together for the best outcomes. Hopefully we will still get a bit of what we want, as well as getting what we need.
To accept overarching dominion of the Divine Truth means that surrender needs to be complete. We tend to hold back at the lower levels of spiritual development. Level 6 & above has surrender as its core platform, which is so because anything less will ensure bondage to falsity & more delusion. Spiritual delusion is another obstacle that is worse than the “ordinary or garden variety”! This occurs when there is delusion about ones attainments & levels of enlightenment. Thinking something is true doesn’t necessarily make it so. Thus though seeing the Divine as manifest everywhere is true practice, we need to see the Divine in the other person before seeing it in ourselves. We are only special when the other is more so.
Of course we fear letting go, & a true surrender need time in magnitude for some to make it happen. We fear life & death generally anyway, so why not surrender all fear? “No sorry, I will have nothing, & I will cease to exist”. That is pure ego talking. That’s where fears sits & fears everything.
So far there is a lot of writing about being Divine, as one realizes the Cosmic Consciousness in & around ones being, as the Truth of all life, & the solution to the conundrum that is Life & the Universe. However it doesn’t matter if you get realized through the pathway of having a personal God/Deity or have the Impersonal Being .With the personal you get the vision, & see Krishna, are one with the Goddess, or feel united with Jesus etc. You see the Deity or rather unite with the Deity. You can do both, as there is no cosmic law that stops you doing this. Sages & saints in history have been aligning o Vedanta impersonal philosophy whilst having an Ishta, (favoritec), Deity. The Buddhist can been engaged with the Great Void, but still be worshipful towards the Buddha in temples with images. Also can worship the various Goddess deities prominent in Tibetan Tantra, (Tara Devi is the key one here). The eventual Realization or Enlightenment is the same in content, as there is only Oneness, one substance of all creation & experience. It’s all divided into the various forms. You can have the gods& angels & other being, or the multitude of human & animal life, or the certain numbers of atoms & molecules bouncing around to give us “experience”.
Then there is more!
Realistic Realization & Practical Enlightenment
Then there is a position where being in the world is no problem as the obstacles are all re-seen, or re-set, with a different awareness. Nothing is not part of this experience, of being one with the “Eternal One”, (personal or impersonal Divinity). Actually it always was that way & always will be, it’s just the modifications of ego based mind creating its own creations. In this situation religion is left behind, because historically there has been little for “ordinary humans” except to follow some Deity. This can be true even in Buddhism which is sometimes considered to a religion without a God. The Buddha is still “followed”. There is only then Vedanta in its singularity form which is Advaita – “without others”. Then there is (as per the Upanishads), Brahman which Atman in individualizes form. Yet no difference in substance. Thus the Advaitin says: Aham Brahma Asmi. – “I am Brahman”. They repeat he Soham mantra – “I am that”, or OM which is the sound of Cosmic Consciousness. No God involved! This is Gyana Yoga – the yoga pathway of knowledge. Even in the Bhagahavad Gita, this pathway is promoted quite a lot, although followers of a personal God, (Such as Krishna), will tell you otherwise. It’s your choice what you believe, just be aware that different commentaries on The Gita & other scripture in Hinduism will give quite opposing philosophic views. It is the case with all the religions as they all have their sects. (Think Catholicism v Protestantism, or Shia v Sunni. or Mahayana v Hinayana Buddhism)
The distractions of today can separate us from our spiritual journey. Most significant are the “post-religion” options. Here to stay are smart phones, Internet, A.I. & countless entertainment options that involve nothing other than “sit back & get addicted”. Lose your soul in the artificial virtual reality & thus lose touch with Reality. However this status quo is irrelevant in:
Realistic Realization or Practical Enlightenment.
In this position one partakes of all, anything & everything & yet floats through like a swan on water. Or like the mythological swam can separate out milk from water in a mixture. This is the Paramhansa – “great-swan”. You can go to Mars & go in hibernation on inter-galactic space travel. Keep the job, the family & the relationships. Especially the relationships! You will still be:
Who you are.
What you are.
Serving all.
No need to be a monk, nun or renunciate yogi living in caves & monasteries. No more special robes. Nor pressure e for 24 hr. introspection. Yes, seeking comfort is a distraction whilst on the earlier stages of the spiritual journey, but this is also here for a purpose. All the journey has learning experience built into the scenery that goes by. Understand & transcend. Become the Transcendental Guru. Use the Mantras!
