Therapeutic Journeys to Self-Realisation – blog 2

Where do you start in this therapeutic journey? What is the required result, if the end result is Self-Realisation, and the the status of this undertaking will be one of ego transcendence or renunciation.

That will mean freedom from everything, because the ego based perspective causes a connection or identification with the body/mind, and this journey is getting around or over the ego. Realising incorporating an Enlightened awareness practice or procedure, is our sought after product, whereas the product of the ego presence is enmeshment in the illusion of what we think is reality. Our reality is actual more of a dream, or even delusion.

What then has transcending and overcoming to do with the therapeutic journey? The answer requires us to look again at what does the ego does. The simple answer is that ego enables us to suffer by identifying through the body mind, and we suffer as much as we choose to suffer. If that’s what you want, that’s what you’ll get, but if you want Self-Realisation, then you can choose to go past suffering.

You’ll still ultimately suffer from the body mind from some perspectives, because the body mind will suffer and you will have to seemingly experience that. However, you will be the witness of all that, and be disconnected from that in your Self-Realisaed awareness. Just as you are separate from a dream. You’ll be free from all experiencing, and you’ll have a freedom to move on from mundane human ego based life, that as long as you witness the experiences rather than be a fully-fledged participant. So it does take some renunciation, and I can’t sugar coat this bitter pill. (The bitterness comes from a seeming loss of all that is Me).

The big question to ask here is here where are we going? (In our human experiential journey). What’s next or beyond that if you have some serious misgiving about it all? Do you really want to go to this other place-beyond so-called reality?

Really most people don’t want to radically address any attachment to this life – human life, and that is where we stagnate. Somehow, somewhere along the line your becoming disenchanted with the whole process. There is some disillusionment of the illusion!

Having discussed why we want to do this journey, the next potential issue is a reluctance to start at the beginning.

Completing the course doesn’t seem logical when the end point of the course negates all journeys. (Self-Realisation).

However, shortcuts will be mostly unhelpful because they will be ego driven. There is however a shortcut, which is by Grace of one’s guides, whether Higher Power/Deity or Guru. This beneficial approach requires though some even tougher ego transcendence, not met mere avoidance of doing negative stuff. Otherwise Grace is not going to work here. (I address this in Om Divine Grace Yoga – my previous book). Here in Therapeutic Journeys there is no spiritual requirement, or even need – it’s all optional. Then there is a requirement to complete the course. It’s just that it’s made a bit easier with any short cuts on offer.

At the beginning of the journey I am propounding, I suggest that we don’t get to do lesson four at the beginning. We start with lesson one. This means we will do very basic therapeutic exercises to bring some calmness to our mind and body. We’re not even doing mindfulness, let alone meditation at this point. We just want to be able to dilute down emotions and thoughts and physical activity. (That is distracting from calmness and serenity).

This means we need to know how to relax and learn how to do this properly.

We are just seeking to decrease everything that’s going on to enhance negative delusions of thought and emotion. Later, we want to diffuse all the emotions, thoughts, reactivity, etc., and sort it out from of a witness stance or experience point of view. Turning then from ego engaged perspective, to a more mindful awareness. (At this point we are not healing anything, or stopping the ego activities, we are just diluting & diffusing).

Then we can start to work on some issues and sort out ourselves regarding some attainment of base line sanity! Then we can go on and look at what can be beneficially driven by our abilities, strengths, values, and spiritual interests.

Then it becomes possible to move into a space which is therapeutic, simply because we live in a higher room at a higher level. Thus all the difficulties that are negative emotion/thought driven are placed on the back burner, or just put into the corner. It’s a bit like putting on the light so that the darkness is removed

I will proceed firstly to recommend a practice of relaxation with some therapeutic visualisations and some optional spiritual perspectives.

This relaxation has been written about recently, and its placed at the end of my sixth book, which is the practical manual for Om Divine Grace Yoga, as in blog 22. I will add some comments to this blog.
