Therapeutic Journeys to Self- Realisation – blog 7

This it to add to blog 6!

Self-Realisation – what is it?

What is self-realisation?

Firstly, it’s impossible to say!

Secondly, it’s possible to say anything you like and give it whatever meaning you want.

So self-realisation can be nothing or everything then in between these two opposites. Or it can be any mixture possible. Ultimately self=realisation means whatever you want it to be.

That’s all beside the point to a considerable degree, because reality with a capital R becomes Reality and that is what is, not what you try to explain. in words. It is inexplicable and actually experiential. That then is Self-Realisation. (Capitals again).

You have it, or you don’t, or you are already and forever already self-realised until you become Self-Realised. Then you know what everything is. in Truth or Ultimate Reality..

Then you are not the body or mind or anything contained within, as you are beyond it all in your transcendent state and experience. There is no Life and the Universe any more. (Or it is seen as the the illusion and delusion that is Maya). There is only oneness with all.

All of the above is my view based on some life events that occurred many years ago.

When I was 17, I left London without any money in 1965. I went on the Hippy Trail and ended up in India, aged 18. I stayed there for 10 years and was a Hindu monk. My philosophy or spiritual/religious outlook stems from that period.

After India, I became a mental health professional and as well as becoming a clinical educator have become engaged in therapeutic activities. Hence my interest to write about this therapy as applicable to Self-Realisation.

Yes its all about beliefs, because religion and spiritual viewpoints are like contracts we make with ourselves and the the universe to help make sense of it all. It is really all self-soothing, which is fine, but it’s also not the big deal that its made out to be. Everyone has their own opinion and often they have very fixed beliefs about what is true, what is right, and what is wrong. Sometimes this opinionating, entails destroying other people‘s religious beliefs and even going to war over it over it. (Same goes for politics). History shows that religions and politics are fundamental drivers for many years of incessant wars.

Thus I only hold my own experience, (views then drop down from experience). That is the Enlightenment of Self Realisation.

I have written a number of books on “spiritual” aspects of my practices, which also contain a bit about religions practices. For this new book I’m trying to “divorce” myself, (to a degree), from all of that spiritual/religious tinge. To bring in the experience of therapeutic worlds and experience to the Journey to Self-Realisation. There is also a need to include then the “world” of clinical mental health issues, as these e now impact on these journeys. I call it a “world”, because is a world apart from fairly recent history, of pre-psychiatry and psychology times. (Therapy also didn’t exist as such in those years, but it most certainly occured).

I’m writing for a wider audience as I have an impetus to do this for somewhat unclear reasons. On the other hand I really just enjoy writing this stuff about this stuff.

I hope this answers any questions about what is self-realisation and Self-Realisation?
