Therapeutic Journeys to Self-Realisation -blog 35

Does sound heal? Is this a Therapeutic way to Self-Realisation?

The enhanced focus from this Therapeutic Journey practice is turbo-charged by mantra repetition. This is CEP – Conscious Enlightenment Practice.

Negative emotions and thinking are intertwined and will damage physical health and mental health. There are natural resonances in life that when disturbed become known to us, and are called sickness. Or rather, we usually seek a diagnosis, along with the drugs that will cure us. Then we are stuck in the medical whirlpool that sucks us in ever deeper. The odd patient gets thrown out with some benefit, but for many the “bark is worse than the bite”. Lots of psychiatric and medical medications cause terrible long term debilitating symptoms. Of course there is good money to be made so that is where “evidence based research” goes.  It not “evidence” at all. All that does is prove that expensive drugs work, and then gives space to deny the benefits of Naturopathy, Ayurveda, or Traditional Chinese medicine. (Because research to prove their benefits is not done much). No money in it! Of course we can see therapists/healers etc. who use music, dance, art, crystals, and many other options. All connected to restoring our natural vibration or resonance. We don’t have to believe that medical science has the answers for our individual “tailor made” problems, unless medicine can stop finding one size that fits all.

Something can be simply attained through the sound influence of a mantra. It’s not about chanting. Ancient texts say that silent repetition of a manta is more powerful.  How can that be?  Science has yet to catch-up. (And never will, because it doesn’t have access to that kind of thinking).

Sanskrit is the language that many mantras are written in. Each mantra has its own attributes and effects as far as the resonance of its sound is concerned. The mantra vibrations go outward and inward to permeate everywhere – no barriers. This is a powerful effect, but one that is moderated by Cosmic rules. That means that mantras take time to work. Unlike Western medicine there is a wait period. If I said fifty years for mantras true effect to work, you might be shocked, but some sages speak in terms of dozens of life’s or reincarnations! Don’t worry, short-cuts are available – check out what I have written about this topic. Short-cuts do have a psychic price to pay!

The mantra repetition will take you to the Cosmic Sound that can be the “big bang”. Though that sound is very subtle, and almost silent. It the sound of the Akasha – the aether of space. (It’s not air as we know it).

Now, regarding this “big bang”. As per one of the schools of ancient Hindu philosophy, the very first thing manifested was sound. Then it is declared that as the human voice is a consequence or “progeny” of primordial sound, it’s extremely powerful. Dictators like Hitler have stirred millions to madness via oratory powers. Voice can transform and heal – hence counsellors and therapists exist!

Chanting hymns, mantras or other vocal religious expression is uplifting, and a core part of liturgy, as well as therapeutic or healing. The Therapeutic Journey to Self-Realisation needs this component for the fruition of its objectives. Mantras are the core of my practice, and my mantras hold my essence of Being. This is my Shakti, although some see it as a connection with Prana – the vital Universal Force, which for us humans could be seen as “just breathing”. How can “just breathing” be the representation of the Universal Force? Well, take away breathing and we have nothing – and books like mine become meaningless!

The breathing at its one-pointed focus or root is mediation at the highest level. Such meditation allows us to inhale and exhale with the Soham mantra in oneness with the Cosmic Being. (To be discussed further). This mantra and others have been chanted or meditated on for eons, and thus benefit from years of accumulated Shakti from the millions of users of mantras over thousands of years.

mThe most important of all mantras is OM or AUM, which I have written about extensively. (More here late). It is the sound form of the individual soul, that is called the Jiva Atma, and also of the supreme soul – Param Atma. They are one in Om, and the meditation on Om leads to this oneness.

Mantra over time

If one takes the time to study this topic in is some depth, one will find that there is a wealth of information and in-depth real science regarding the power of a word. Each mantra from the ancient historical past of India has an author – a wise sage. It has a supernatural being that informs that transcendental component. It has an underlying seed form, which is the subtle unconscious power of that sound. The sound itself is allied to a particular energy, (Shakti), which is the unseen vibration of that sound. This is somewhat similar to sound waves which can be heard when channeled through an instrument, (such as a radio). All of these components are held together by an unseen pillar or pin. (Just like the body held upright by the spine).

The mantra however must be awakened through its use by the person using it. So a mantra could be merely supplementary to other spiritual practices, or vice versa. However the mantra can be used as the key practice spiritually, or to achieve any other outcome that is sought. Sound produces forms through its vibrations, and the repetition of a particular mantra brings forth awareness of both the form that is meditated on, and the purification that is sought. Logically any person using a mantra would want to use one that is representing a ones favored deity, or a personally desired materialistic outcome. The choice of form of one’s Deity or desired outcome, becomes one’s choice of mantra.

The mantra can also be a refuge. Its repetition can allow release or escape from certain difficult mental problems or thoughts, and move the minds focus to a more healthy location. Constant repetition over a long period can enable a shift from a deep-seated negative personal perspectives, towards the higher planes of light and energy.

The mantra is of course a spiritual word, although you may hear that any word repeated has its own power. Logically, it does not make sense to repeat some obnoxious phrases. For instance whilst eating dinner certain words could provoke unpleasant regurgitation! Logically it makes sense to repeat something sweet, light, and healthy -unless one has a death wish!
