Embracing Divinity: Insights on Spiritual Awakening and Mental Health
Dive into the relationship between human existence, spirituality, and mental health, to emphasize your innate divinity, and the necessity of acknowledging this truth. Don’t deny one’s divine nature to ensure both personal freedom and unity with others. By exploring concepts such as karma, enlightenment, and the need for a spiritual guide or Guru, true liberation can arrive. It’s due to from recognizing and embodying one’s divine essence. This also addresses the complication of human psychology, particularly in relation to depression and mental illness, and how spirituality can be intertwined with therapeutic practices. The philosophy of Gyana (knowledge) and Bhakti (devotion), seem very separate, but highlights the balance between self-realization and surrendering to a higher power. Ultimately, understanding one’s divinity is critical for finding meaning, purpose, and healing in a world rife with suffering.
Key points
- Denying personal divinity prevents true personal and collective enlightenment, forcing individuals to seek external salvation rather than embracing inner truth.
- Most religions do not support the idea of personal divinity, cultivating fear and separation rather than unity and freedom.
- Choices of Karma create both suffering and joy, but this Practice is about acknowledging the importance of surpassing karma through enlightenment and the realization of life’s essence.
- See the Divine as a comprehensive existence. Journey towards recognizing divinity in everything in order to de-emphasizes the need for external validation through religious hierarchy.
- Spiritual practices such as meditation can facilitate the recognition of the divine within oneself and the world, rather than merely through rituals.
- Explore the mentorship of a Guru, as there is a need for guidance without forming dependency, which still enables assertion of individualism in the spiritual path.
- The nature of reality, is such that achieving true happiness involves more than routine spiritual practices, requiring deeper introspection and ongoing efforts.
- Depression and mental health are critical societal issues, and spirituality often plays a neglected role in therapeutic practices.
- There is an intertwined nature of spirituality and mental health, so essentially there is a need for divine grace along with personal responsibility in order to overcome adverse conditions.
Embracing Suffering: Recognize suffering as part of the human experience that can lead to deeper spiritual understanding and acceptance. Historically ancient sages and spiritual traditions have understood in advance any contemporary issues within the longer and larger historical narrative. Recognizing suffering and struggles as integral to life may transform one’s perspective towards finding meaning and purpose
Karma: It’s the principle of causality where actions (good or bad) create consequences in this life or future lives.
Gyana or Knowledge or awareness of one’s true nature and the essence of reality, is intrinsic to Vedantic philosophy, whereas a devotional path emphasises love and devotion to a personal God or higher power. The integration of spiritual practices into therapeutic models highlights the necessity of a holistic approach to mental health. The tension between religious teachings and personal spiritual paths suggest that true enlightenment often demands a rejection of dogma in favour of personal truth.
Question?
How can spirituality be effectively integrated into therapeutic practices?
By recognizing the holistic nature of human experience, therapists can use spiritual frameworks, such as mindfulness and meditation, to complement traditional treatments. Acknowledging one’s divine nature involves acting in alignment with spiritual truths and serving others rather than seeking validation from external authorities. Viewing karma as a teacher encourages a proactive approach to choices and actions, fostering accountability and growth.
How do societal perceptions of mental health influence individual experiences with depression and spirituality?
Cultural stigmas may deter individuals from seeking spiritual means for healing, contributing to feelings of isolation and despair. The role of a Guru in spiritual development is important, to assist even with the cultural dimension. However, while guidance can facilitate spiritual growth, personal exploration and responsibility should remain central to one’s journey.
So, embody one’s inherent divinity as a path to personal freedom and spiritual awakening. Challenge traditional religious views, for a more personal approach to spirituality that includes self-awareness, commitment to service, and understanding of karmic principles. By addressing the interplay between mental health and spirituality, with a holistic view of human existence, one can embrace both the struggles and one’s divine nature. Ultimately, the quest for meaning transcends religious boundaries, so seek your version of the divine and foster compassion in a complex world.
If we continue to choose to deny our own Divinity, we are denying the Divine in all. We remain a human who wants God to fix us, or some other “version” to do so. (The Incarnation, the Guru, the Buddha, the Jesus). We want to be fixed and stay human, so that we don’t have to take on the enormous responsibility incurred when we fully surrender to Truth.
Most religions also, will not give you permission! (To be Free).
To embody yourself in your true identity is heretic, and certainly you are not given permission, by most of society, to be “allowed” to realize your Divinity throughout your whole physical body. Then it becomes required that you remain in fear. Fear because of separation. Where there are many there is no Unity. When we are one with the Cosmic Being we become fearless.
Notes on “Teachings”
Here we are delving into the concept of the Transcendental Guru and the intricacies involved in the awakening of Kundalini energy and its journey through various chakras. The philosophical underpinnings of Vedanta, explains the notions of Cosmic Consciousness and human limitations shaped by Maya (illusion).
The awakening of Kundalini energy! Note that while some may experience this spontaneously, spiritual practices enhance this focus. The role of a Siddha Yogi, described as having special abilities to elevate Kundalini awareness through Shakti-Paat, is important. This interaction occurs when the Guru transmits divine energy.
Explaining the levels of spiritual attainment!
The Enlightened Transcendental Guru transcends even spiritual elements of Maya. (And is at level 8). An Enlightened Practitioner sits – at level 7. Being Level 9 signifies a Divine, (but partial), Avatara, while Level 10 represents the full manifestation of the Divine. (Who will “come again” on earth).
This is a somewhat arbitrary nature of spiritual classification despite its usefulness, and I compare it to psychiatric diagnoses – that can guide treatment. While categorization can be helpful, it may misrepresent the true essence of one’s spiritual situation.
Various methodologies to facilitate the controlled rise of Kundalini through meditation and the use of Bija mantras are discussed in the book, demonstrating a cyclical movement of energy throughout the body.
- Shakti-Paat: The transmission of spiritual energy from a Guru to a disciple, facilitating Kundalini awakening.
- Siddha: An accomplished master or sage with heightened spiritual abilities. Siddha Yogis possess knowledge about the Kundalini energy flow and can initiate this awakening in their students through techniques like Shakti-Paat
- Vedanta: A spiritual philosophy that emphasizes the oneness of existence and consciousness, dividing into Advaita (non-duality) and Dvaita (duality).
- Karma: The results of our actions. Action being done now, which will lead to future karma.
- Kundalini awakening
Kundalini awakening refers to the rising of dormant spiritual energy in the human body, generally through the chakras, facilitating enhanced spiritual experiences and consciousness.
- Maya, and why is it important.
Maya refers to the illusory nature of existence that distracts individuals from their true spiritual path and connection with the divine. various spiritual methodologies, like meditation and mantra chanting, can significantly assist in overcoming Maya cutting through Delusion.
